Any sketches. Anime “Death Note. Why you need to choose the original sketch

The character of the manga and anime "Death Note", as well as films and computer games based on the manga. The god of death, out of boredom, threw the "Death Note" into the world of people - an artifact that serves to kill people. For a person to be overtaken by death, it is enough to enter the name of this person in the Death Note. Then he had fun watching a Japanese schoolboy who picked up a notebook and began to use it, killing criminals.

History of creation

The image of Ryuk was invented and developed to a finished concept by the Japanese writer and screenwriter Tsugumi Ohba, and the character design was created by the artist Takeshi Obata. When Tsugumi Obu was asked why the apple was chosen as Ryuk's attribute and favorite food, the screenwriter explained that the choice was made based on the visual impact of the picture.

The character looked good with apples, and the red color of the fruit made a spectacular combination with the black color and Ryuk's huge toothy mouth. When asked if there were any extensive cultural and religious associations that were loaded with the image of an apple, Ohba bluntly stated that he hadn’t thought of anything like that, just “apples are cool.”

It's hard to believe, but the monstrous Ryuk, in accordance with the original plan of the artist, was supposed to look like a human youth, outwardly similar to Light, only with black wings and a brunette. The artist wanted the gods of death to look like rock stars and be attractive to the reader.

However, then Obata came to the conclusion that the overly attractive Ryuk would attract the attention of the audience. Then Light will be a supporting character, and not the main character, as intended. Later, the editor demanded that Ryuk not look like a human at all, and as a result, the hero received a monstrous appearance. In the official Death Note 13: How to Read manga guide, the artist reveals that he envisioned Ryuk's monstrous face as a mask to hide an attractive face.

Anime Death Note

The anime series "Death Note" was produced by the studio "Madhouse" and was broadcast in 2006-2007. A total of 37 twenty-minute episodes were released. The director of the series is Tetsuro Araki, the voice actor who voiced Ryuk is Shido Nakamura.

The creators of the anime closely reproduced the plot of the manga, so that both the character's character and the events in which he participates in the anime almost do not differ from what is happening in the manga. Only some side lines disappeared from the anime and a few minor episodes appeared that were not in the manga, but this did not affect the overall storyline.

Ryuk is bored in the world of the gods of death, where nothing interesting happens: the gods sit back and play dice. For fun, Ryuk throws a Death Note into the world of people, accompanying it with instructions so that the person who picks up the notebook can use it. It is later revealed that the tossed notebook did not belong to Ryuk himself, but to another god of death named Shido.

In the world of people, the notebook is picked up by Light Yagami, a Japanese schoolboy, the son of the police chief, a smart but slightly asocial teenager who decides to use the notebook to destroy criminals and fancies himself the “god of a new world”, where only law-abiding and “useful” people will remain.

Ryuk watches with interest the actions that Light takes, but does not feel any friendly feelings for the teenager. Ryuk follows Light everywhere, accompanying him even at school, but no one except Light sees Ryuk. The god of death is just having fun watching Light, and is not interested in helping or, conversely, hindering him.

However, Ryuk has a weakness - he loves apples. In exchange for apples, Light manages to "spin" Ryuk for some favors. For example, the god of death told Light about the pursuers who were following him, discovered the cameras that El had installed to watch Light, and at Light's request, wrote fake rules in a notebook. All for the sake of eating apples.

The only major difference between the anime and manga is the ending. In the anime, Ryuk kills Light under different circumstances.

In addition to Ryuk, there are other gods of death in the series, for example, Rem. This god of death is watching another character, Misa, a girl who "acquired" eyes from the god of death in order to see the names and life spans of people. In the manga and anime, Rem is portrayed as a woman, but in the Death Note films, this role is played by a man.

Ram can't stand people because of their inherent cruelty and is disgusted by Light because of the methods he uses. However, Rem has to help Light because of Misa. Visually, Rem was created as a contrasting character to Ryuk.

The character is also featured in the full-length anime Death Note Rewrite: The Visualizing God, which is a condensed retelling of the series. According to the plot, Ryuk is in the world of the gods of death, where he retells to a certain god of death his own memories of Light and the events related to him.

Ryuk also appears in the 2006 Japanese mystery thriller Death Note, voiced by Shidô Nakamura. In 2017, a film based on the manga was released by American director Adam Wingard. The names of the characters are distorted here, the American city of Seattle becomes the setting, and the plot is also heavily redrawn from the manga. The role of Ryuk in this adaptation is played by an American actor.

Ryuk in Death Note (2017)

Death gods in anime are supernatural characters who are essentially not responsible for people's deaths. According to the plot, people die beautifully without the intervention of the gods. The gods need to kill people by writing the names of those in a notebook in order to prolong their own life, since the rest of the years not lived by a person due to the fact that the god of death entered the name in the notebook is transferred “to the account” of the god of death himself.

  • In the new Japanese mythology, there are gods of death - shinigami, but this type of character appeared relatively recently. This is the personification of death, an image that can be found on engravings and other pictures. It is used in contemporary Japanese art. Presumably, the Shinigami image entered Japanese folklore from Europe, where the image of Death was personified in art, or from Chinese mythology, where there were different types of death gods. For the first time, the image of a shinigami appears in Japanese literature in the middle of the 19th century.

  • Ryuk's design turned out to be so catchy and recognizable that some fans began to get a tattoo with the character. Other fans of the series put on a very effective cosplay, convincingly portraying Ryuk, or draw art, showing love for the character.

Reference to the fresco "Creation of Adam"
  • The series contains many references to the real world. For example, in the intro that opens each new episode, there is a moment when Light and Ryuk "depict" the "Creation of Adam" mural. Ryuk is in the position of God, Light is in the position of Adam, and Ryuk takes the apple from Light's hands.

Why do we need tattoo sketches? Even if you have already decided on a tattoo and know for sure what exactly you will fill, you also need to decide on the style and convey the task to the artist as clearly as possible. To do this, you need to provide a sketch of the tattoo, something that the master will rely on. Of course, more and more people prefer going to a specific tattoo artist, to whom they go for his unique style, for his vision and for his advice. They are "in love" with his style of performance and completely trust him. However, if such a master is not in sight, or if the master works with many styles, bring him a sketch of the tattoo.

Here we have selected 5 of the best, in our opinion, resources with free sketches that you can be inspired by or even use as a basis for your own tattoo.

The resource is replete with images that are carefully divided into categories and subtypes within them. Very easy to find what you need.

In addition to the sketches themselves, on this resource you will find many photos of tattoos broken down by body parts on which they are implemented. There is also an interesting breakdown by style, that is, you can immediately look for a suitable image in the desired manner of performance.

A resource where you will not only find a fairly large catalog of sketches, but you can also get information on the styles and meanings of tattoos.

And finally, for those who have already finally decided to get a tattoo, I would like to give some advice from the editors:

Greetings to tattoo lovers and those who are just starting to get acquainted with this topic!

For your convenience, the catalog is divided into subsections with different styles.

Why choose an original sketch?

It would seem that the question is so simple that it does not require explanation. Nevertheless, in the presence of chic masters and an endless amount of information on the global Internet, there are those who want to make themselves a tattoo “as in the picture”. Many do not see the difference between a regular drawing and a sketch for a tattoo, but this is very important! Not all images from the World Wide Web are suitable for application to the body, but many of them can be reworked to an individual sketch (taking into account contouring, shadows and color reproduction).

Let us analyze in sequence what the value of an individual sketch is hidden in.

  1. A person with a tattoo in a conspicuous place should be prepared for the fact that public attention to him will be increased. Some will simply look at the drawings with interest, while others will not hesitate to ask questions. After the standard topics about whether it hurts, how much it costs and how it will look like in old age, you will hear: “What does it mean?” . If you have a picture that is not quite obvious =) And then few people like to answer: “Nothing, I found it on Google” or “I don’t know, it was in the catalog of standard sketches”. No one says that all drawings on the body should have a deep meaning, which you need to talk about, raising your hands to the sky and rolling your eyes. But it is much more pleasant when you are aware of what you put on your body, and you can easily explain your motives (at least to yourself, because no one is obliged to account for their tattoos to anyone else). Of course, someone decides to put a picture on the body absolutely spontaneously, under the influence of some emotional events. As a rule, such clients then come for the mixing of their "masterpiece".
  2. Since the tattooed body is an object of creativity, it is worth considering how many people want to become the owners of a second-rate work of art? We are now talking about tattoos - copies. After all, it is the originals that are priceless examples of the greatest craftsmanship. Exhibited in museums and bought up in private collections only genuine samples. No one will read the paperwork of an amateur when the greatest works of the literary genre are available. That is why the original sketch, developed individually for you, is so highly valued.
  3. An experienced and talented master is always happy to work with clients who bring him new and reckless ideas. As an artist, he wants to create and create (but sometimes destroy) =) Avoid tattoo artists who offer to repeat the sketch of one of his clients. The tattoo is a private artistic property in a single copy. It should not be repeated on the body for everyone.

Study the original author's sketches on our website, get ideas and fly to your master on creative wings =) Together you will create a unique piece of artistic tattoo that will become your companion for life.
