As elven costumes, the prevailing stereotypes, illustrations by famous artists, films, for example, "The Lord of the Rings", early medieval stylizations are often taken as a basis.
You can start by searching for pictures on the Internet, and therefore choosing a few options you like (it is better that these are photos of suits, and not too complicated, especially if you do not plan to order a suit from professional sewing people).

The lower dress is usually fitted, with a rather shallow neckline, with narrow sleeves (they narrow due to lacing at the wrist) made of a denser fabric, the upper dress is looser, with such beautiful sleeves falling to the ground, with a train, a deep neckline, etc. In general, fantasy can walk. It is difficult to tell about surcoat, a little more about it below.

Wool is also suitable (and it’s better not to come to the game without a warm thing, usually it is a woolen or half-woolen raincoat), velvet (expensive, but beautiful!), Part of the curtain fabrics, depending on the role - organza (for example, upper transparent sleeves ).

If you only need a dress to “light up” somewhere, and not go to the forest and run in it in the rain / scorching sun, then sew from which your hand will rise. I don’t recommend satin fabrics (slip like ordinary silk, alas, alas), chintz (hello, old curtain!), Diagonal (it frays hard).

Of course, there are more fabrics, I have listed the most popular and well-known in the role-playing and near-role environment.

This can be connected both with the fact that censorship has finally disappeared and the Western fashion for fantasy has reached the ex-USSR, and with the need of young people for escapism in a difficult historical period. I was no exception) I, since childhood, read out Darrell, Mine Reed and Fenimore Cooper, this world immediately became close. And what is interesting - if in my youth it seemed distant and impossible against the background of gray reality, today I feel that I live in it, reality and dream have merged. I guess in my youth I could have joined roleplayers if I hadn't been such a loner - but now I'm playing my game in life, and it's even cooler.

The next wave of Tolkien's popularity came in the early 2000s with the release of Peter Jackson's film trilogy The Lord of the Rings. And the unsurpassed work of artists and directors breathed life into the dream - the imaginary world gained flesh and blood, and the still unnamed Shi style began to occupy an increasingly solid place in aesthetic preferences. Most often, things in this style are now called "elven", but this name does not reflect the full variety of moods and techniques that fit the definition of Sidhestyle. After some time, faced with a lack of knowledge and experience, I turned to another wonderful stylist - yanina , which helped me navigate the variety of clothes and gave a lot of practical advice and examples.

Now I am at the stage of searching for the right things, and now I feel the need to unite with like-minded people - unlike boho, the Shi style is not yet popular enough, and the necessary elements have to be collected from the world one by one - something from ethnicity, something from boho- designers, something from the classics, and something from the arsenal of reenactors, to find craftsmen working in this manner.
