Professional advice: how to choose a tie for a man's suit correctly? How to choose a tie for a classic men's suit? Three identical patterns

There are conflicting opinions about the bolo tie in the fashion world. Someone considers it a "noose" and states that a man should not wear this relic of the American past (after all, the bolo tie came to us from cowboys). And someone already has several of these ties in their collection and would not mind buying a couple more.

For those who do not know what a bolo tie is, we explain: it is a leather or fabric cord fastened with a decorative movable clip. The whole point is in that very decorative clip: it is he who adorns the men's shirt, when the ends of the lace hang down freely.

A bolo tie can really diversify your everyday look, but you should pay attention to its design. A ridiculous, cheap, too pretentious (for example, with bright red stones) accessory will not add any charm or originality to you. Stop for something discreet and simple - and your holiday outfit will not go unnoticed.

2. Bow tie

It seems to us that a bow tie has long ceased to be an attribute of an evening male look. Yes, before butterflies were worn only with a tuxedo and tailcoat, but now this accessory has migrated to the everyday men's wardrobe. Fashionistas wear them with plaid shirts, cardigans, blazers, short sleeve shirts and even polo shirts.

And what kind of butterflies are sold in dozens of designer shops! Any shades, polka dots, plaid, with characters from films, multi-colored, three-layer, large, small, silk, leather and even wooden. The range is so huge that every man can find something to their liking.

And yet, if you are not used to wearing a bow tie every day, then try decorating your shirt collar with it. Are you afraid of making the wrong choice? Opt for a bow tie in a muted color: dark brown, burgundy or blue (Lanvin has the most classic designs). You don’t have to learn how to tie a bow tie either: just buy an already tied accessory with a clasp.

In the end, if the butterfly starts to make you uncomfortable (some men complain that it tightens your neck), it is easy to take it off and put it in your pocket.

3. Ascot

Another version of the tie is the ascot. It resembles a neckerchief and is tied like a scarf. Then it is tucked under the shirt collar so that only its upper part peeks out. Finally, the tie is fixed with a decorative pin.

By the way, a scarf performs not only an aesthetic, but also a practical function: when a man wears a scarf, the collar of his shirt always remains clean. In addition, ascot does not tighten the neck and does not overload the image. This scarf will only emphasize your style and elegance.

Models with a geometric or abstract print look the most interesting: it’s great if the color of the tie resonates with a shade of a jacket, vest or shirt.

4. Pocket square

A pocket square is one of the main elements of a gentleman's suit. Unfortunately, we are less and less likely to see a man who decorates his jacket with a charming scarf. Maybe it is worth remembering this accessory at least on a gala evening?

There are two important rules when choosing a pocket square. Firstly, the color of the tie should not match the color of the scarf (the same patterns are also undesirable). Secondly, the shade of the scarf should be different from the shade of the jacket. In general, do not hesitate to choose a bright scarf with an original pattern - after all, it plays the role of one of the main accents of the festive look. We recommend taking a look at the Lanvin, Etro and Kiton collections - they have really cool scarves.

How to fold a scarf? We don't have a definite answer. There are a dozen ways to beautifully fold a scarf: you can double, triple, square, triangle, or you can fold it like a “wing”. Experiment and change ways, or learn one and use that alone. To be honest, it is not so important how your scarf will be folded, the main thing is that it just be.

5. Boutonniere

Of course, we associate the boutonniere with the suit of the groom. The accessory is very beautiful and stylish, so why not wear it if you are not going to get married or, on the contrary, had a wedding 10 years ago? It is urgent to forget about prejudices and put a boutonniere on your jacket!

To prevent others from mistaking you for a newly-made husband, try to find a non-classical boutonniere made from anything but flowers. From paper, plastic or wood, for example. And don't buy a too voluminous large boutonniere that looks more like a bouquet - it will definitely make your look ridiculous.

Remember that the boutonniere is attached to the left lapel of the jacket, and sometimes not only the jacket, but also the vest is decorated with it. Of course, it makes no sense to wear this accessory all the time, but wearing it once or twice a year is not only possible, but also necessary.

6. Tie-plastron

A regular tie is boring. It will in no way turn your image from business to festive. But a tie with the name "plastron" (a wide tie, often sewn from satin fabric) is quite capable. To be honest, it is also considered a wedding tie and should be worn with a three-piece suit (the plastron is tucked under the vest). But there is nothing special about if you decide to wear this tie to any other celebration.

It is not difficult to tie a plastron. When you make a knot, it is important to carefully lay both ends on top of each other and secure them with a special pin.

A plastron tie will emphasize your individuality and create an exquisite evening look of a stylish man.

7. Cufflinks

So many words have been said about cufflinks, but men are still wary of shirts that involve wearing this accessory. Why are they better than regular buttons?

First of all, the fact that cufflinks are an indicator of status, style and impeccable taste. They are worn only with special "French" cuffs that fold in half - thus, the cufflinks hold eight layers of fabric at once.

French cuffs should peek out slightly from under the sleeves of the jacket. So others will be able to see and appreciate your cool cufflinks (read the post about how long a man’s clothes should be). If the cufflinks are metal, then it is desirable that their color is combined with the color of the belt buckle or with the watch. If colored - then with a touch of a shirt or tie.

A modern man (if you are not a collector) will only need one or two pairs of cufflinks: for example, gold and silver (or any informal ones made of base metal). By the way, there are very original cufflinks in the Paul Smith collection.

8. Tie clip

A tie clip is a familiar men's accessory and an important part of a business image. The clip keeps the tie stationary when a man bends over, runs or there is a strong wind blowing outside. But for some reason, not all men have at least one tie clip in their wardrobe.

Very in vain, find a couple of beautiful clips (you can unusual ones, in the form of a Kalashnikov assault rifle, an arrow or with an engraving), and wear them on special occasions. Remember the main rule - the length of the clip should match the width of the tie, or be 1/4 shorter than it, but in no case longer.

So, dear men, now you know how to decorate your outfit for a festive evening. Good luck!

A tie is not just an accessory, but a thing that should favorably emphasize your image. The overall look of the suit will depend on the right tie. Therefore, before you start choosing a tie for a suit and shirt, you need to know a few secrets:

  • first choose a shirt and a suit, and only then a tie;
  • It is customary to highlight your style with a tie. For a shirt, he is selected either a tone darker, or a few tones lighter;
  • do not choose the same tone and pattern for a tie and shirt. If you chose geometry, then try to choose a shirt and tie with different patterns. The stripes of the shirt should not coincide with the direction of the stripes of the tie;
  • remember that a tie, in order to avoid enumeration of combinations, should not have more than three colors;
  • in no case should the width of the tie be greater than the width of the lapels.

How to choose the right tie?

Textile. The traditional tie is made of silk fabric. No less popular are ties made of wool, cashmere. A combination of different materials is also allowed: wool-linen, silk-cotton, wool-silk, wool-cashmere. There are also stretch ties made of poplin, microfiber and some other synthetic fabric. But synthetics quickly lose their shape. After the first wash, the tie is unlikely to have its original appearance.

Width. The width of the tie, as mentioned above, should match the lapels of the jacket. A tie of 6-8 cm would be ideal. What is already 6 cm is considered a narrowed model. Wide models of 10 cm are considered especially solemn and are sewn from expensive material - pure silk.

Attention! Tight ties are not suitable for overweight men. This will only emphasize their completeness. It is better to use the classics.

Form. Upon purchase, all ties look just perfect. But to check how the accessory will behave when tied to the first knot, take it in the palm of your hand. Lay the wide end across your palm. It should hang down a little. If the tie is twisted at the bottom, then this is not the best option. A good accessory is one that has a straight edge. After tying the knot, it will also remain flat and will not stick out.

Seams. The seams are on the back of the tie. Run your hand over them. They must be sliding. If the seams are tight, then it is machine sewing. There is a stitch where the seams meet in the shape of the letter “V”, which keeps the shape of the tie.

Attention! High-end ties are made from three different pieces, if some models from two.

Tie length. The length of a tie for an adult man is usually 150 cm. Separate models can be found in 130 or 160 cm.

How to wear a tie?

Many men wear a tie incorrectly. First, it concerns the length. Some tie the accessory in such a way that the edge of the tie is almost near the chest. Individuals tuck "extra length" into trousers. This is wrong. The tie should barely touch the belt or be 1-2 cm above the waistband of the trousers.
Secondly, men make mistakes when combining a tie with a suit and shirt.

Tip: If you don’t know what combination of tie and suit would be appropriate, choose a black (gray) suit, a white shirt and absolutely any tie (but not white).

To avoid confusion with colors, you can use the table, which indicates which tie is best suited to a shirt of a certain color.

Tie and shirt color combination

The easiest option is to match a tie with a white and gray shirt: any combination will do. If you want to draw attention to yourself, for example, to be heard by an audience or to attract attention in a meeting, then you should choose ties from red to burgundy. If, on the contrary, you want to remain "incognito", then choose a tie in the color of the suit or something neutral.

The table shows the popular colors of shirts that can be combined in any style. We see that a black tie is universal: it is equally suitable for both a lilac shirt and a yellow one. The same goes for gray ties. A mustard tie will go well with blue, pink, purple and yellow shirts.

But the choice of men's accessory should not be limited to the table. For example, you have a golden tie. A very specific color. It goes well with a white shirt, but you should also consider a suit combination. If you have exactly this color in your closet, then you should “walk” it in this way: attach a tie to a shirt. For example, a black shirt. Now pick up a jacket. If your wardrobe has a black jacket with gold patterns or a gold jacket with black patterns, then you can safely wear the accessory. Moreover, the fabric of the jacket should be “heavy” velveteen, velvet, etc.

You should also carefully combine different patterns and prints. A plain shirt - a tie with a print or a plain tie - a shirt with a pattern would be ideal. A colored shirt is no longer a formal style. Therefore, here you can consider a bright suit. A suit and tie of the same color can be matched with a printed shirt.

Tie and shirt combination

The most difficult choice is the combination of a tie pattern and a shirt. Here it is worth adhering to the rule "not sure - do not take it." But for such a combination, there are a couple of tips:

  1. Choose a combination of geometric patterns, but the tie should remain dominant in color (stripe on the shirt - small circles on the tie, rhombuses on the tie - small dot on the shirt);
  2. The same type of patterns on a tie and shirt should be different. For example, even if you decide to combine stripes, then choose, for example, a thin vertical line on a shirt, and a wide diagonal or horizontal line on a tie. For a small rhombus on a shirt, a large square on an accessory is suitable.

That's all the secrets. Sticking to combinations in clothes with an accessory such as a tie, you can achieve the perfect look. Moreover, the fashion trend extends not only to the classic style. A tie can be skillfully combined with jeans, one shirt or a completely non-classical tweed or velveteen jacket. Your image is in your hands!

How to match a tie to a shirt: video

A tie is one of the most important elements of a wardrobe for men, despite the fact that not every member of the stronger sex likes it. But you can look at this wardrobe item from another, more practical side - as an important detail for creating a business and serious style.

Several varieties of tie are known. The most popular and well-known men's accessories include the classic Bolo tie for special occasions and all kinds of bows and butterflies. Let's take a closer look at what types of ties can be used in an image, and on what occasion it is better to wear them.

Classic. The length of the tie, as a rule, is from 130 to 150 centimeters, the width varies from 7 to 9 centimeters. This item of men's wardrobe fits perfectly into the everyday look for going to work in the office, helps to add rigor to the appearance, betrays seriousness. A classic tie does not require special care, it can be additionally used for a walk with a wife and a child in the park, theater, going to a gala event.

A regatta is a tie with an elastic band, which means that there is no need to tie a knot yourself - it is provided by the manufacturer. The ribbon in the form of an elastic band skillfully hides under the collar of the shirt.

Windsor is the name of the node, which is the basis of such an accessory. This wardrobe item is sewn with a large length and width. Such a wardrobe item is very popular in the UK.

Novelties of the autumn-winter 2019-2020 season: all about materials for ties

If not so long ago ties made of satin, wool or silk were out of competition, today everything is somewhat different. You need to understand that ties are now in fashion from a variety of fabrics. It is worth paying attention to models from: silk; wool; cotton cashmere; flax; twisted silk; raw silk. Silk accessories are still indispensable for creating a festive or solemn look. Also, accessories made of this fabric are appropriate for the formation of an impeccable business image. The advantage of the product is all-weather.

Woolen ties are more suitable for wearing during the cold season. Natural wool in combination with lining will seem most appropriate in combination with suits made of dense autumn-winter fabrics. An interesting option is stylish men's cashmere ties. Just like woolen products, they give the impression of elegant and stylish accessories, evoke pleasant tactile sensations upon contact. Natural ties made of cotton or linen are still in fashion. Both options are more suitable for warm spring and summer weather. The advantages of the products are light weight and pleasant texture.

Accessories are more suitable for informal style, go well with suits made of matting or cotton, should not be considered as a strict office option. An unusual solution is products made of twisted silk, which designers advise to pay special attention to. Just like cotton or linen, they are best worn in late spring and summer. A distinctive feature of the accessory is a square ending and a narrowed shape.

It is extremely rare, but still you can see ties made of raw silk on fashionistas. The accessory is universal, suitable for suits made of any fabrics, but looks especially advantageous in combination with suits made of light materials.

For special occasions

Ascot, Plastron, Sharpei - these types of ties are used at celebrations. For example, at wedding celebrations, men in the United States of America wear Ascot with fancy suits. But Sharpei has versatility, as it fits any shirt collar and style of clothing. Interestingly, in Scotland this type of tie is part of the national costume.

Plastron - the birthplace of such an item of men's wardrobe - is France. It has external similarities with Ascot, but has a longer history. The French used to wear a Plastron with a waistcoat, sometimes it was attached to clothing with an iron pin. Today, this tie is found in suits almost unchanged.

Models of butterflies and bows

Two centuries ago, a bow tie was associated with a neckerchief. The ends of the fabric were simply tied like a butterfly. The tie received its modern look only at the beginning of the last century, men began to wear it with a tailcoat or tuxedo.

A tie in the form of a bow is purchased with a ready-made elastic band, clasp and knot. The main difference from butterflies is the narrow base. Often this element of the costume is used in the service sector, for example, waiters, bartenders, butlers wear to work.

bolo

A bolo is a tie in the form of a lace, which is fastened with a beautiful brooch. The word tie here does not at all refer to a specific object made of fabric, it can simply be a lace made of leather. Bolo is especially popular with creative people, such as writers, artists, musicians. Often such a bow is tied up with precious stones, metal or high-quality wood. Bolo is also characteristic of country style, and in the US states of New Mexico and Arizona, it is even considered an official style of clothing.

Unusual models

Lavalier - this name of the tie symbolizes its clarity, accuracy and the presence of a small knot. It is in this form that he enters the shelves of stores. The main distinguishing feature is the wide ring in the knot area, which creates a very fashionable and elegant look. But such a wardrobe item has more feminine features than masculine ones. Often it is used by artists to compose stage images. Lavaliere is not only a type of tie, but also the name of the knot itself. You can also tie silk and satin scarves in this way. The style will look very natural.

Neckerchief or, in other words, cravat - does not have its own history. According to legend, it was worn by Chinese soldiers. After fashion overtook such countries as France, Egypt and Ancient Rome. Today it is just a scarf that the female half of society ties around the neck, some men use the cravat as an elegant accessory. In addition, everyone can choose the colors of such a scarf according to their taste and match it to their style of clothing.

Herring is a tie in the form of a ribbon. It is very popular in the preparation of men's images in a business style and casual style. The width of this accessory is about 3 centimeters, which greatly emphasizes the individual style of clothing. A narrow tie is well suited for men of a slim build. For men with a denser complexion, it is recommended to choose ties from classic collections.

Who will suit

To choose the right tie, pay attention to what your lifestyle is, what situations in your life are more. If you spend most of your time in the office or meeting with business clients, then focus on the classic types of ties.

If you want to create an unusual, festive impression, take part in the celebration, then choose a tie for a special occasion. This will give the image more sophistication, neatness, idleness.

If you work in the service sector - a bank, a restaurant, a casino - then choose a bow tie. This piece of clothing will make the image more formal and at the same time relaxed, inviting customers.

Bolo is a great option for creative individuals. He gives out a good style, unusual, expensive taste. Sometimes this kind of wardrobe can demonstrate the status of its owner.

Try to choose only high-quality accessories, as this is one of the first pieces of clothing that the eye falls on. Moreover, ties are not in abundance in the wardrobe, so the same models can be matched to different sets, which means they are often worn. Follow the tips below:

A good tie is one that is sewn from three or more parts, cheap ones are sewn from only two.

Pay attention to what kind of lining the tie has. The first sign of quality is 100% wool.

A good men's accessory has a seam on the back side, it seems to hold together several parts of the tie. This allows you to better keep its shape. With cheap production of clothes, they usually save on this element.

Make sure the tie is not twisted. This element of the wardrobe should absolutely not have uneven seams, twists and bends.

If the tie is made of silk, then this fabric must be of high quality. Avoid rough fabrics, they won't fit perfectly on your suit. It is better not to buy a tie made of polyester, as it has a characteristic sheen, and you can immediately distinguish that the accessory is made of cheap materials.

To choose the right tie width, carefully study the components of the kit. Look at the width of the lapels, the neckline of the jumper, the collar of the jacket. From these and not only factors will depend on what size the tie should be.

The best choice is a classic tie. It has a width of about 8-9 centimeters, dark in color, made of cotton or silk. If you need a stylish look, then you can make the tie a little thinner.

It is important that the accessory is not longer than the belt buckle. Waist length is perfect. If jeans are used in a set of clothes, then a distance of several centimeters is acceptable.

It is difficult to meet a man who would never wear a tie. This is the basic part of the men's wardrobe. I'm sure, even if your occupation does not oblige you to wear suits and ties, you probably have at least a couple of ties in your closet at home - for special occasions. This is a traditional accessory for special occasions and business meetings. It is important to know how to choose the right tie and match it with a classic men's suit. This is exactly what I will tell you.

Defining quality by appearance

If you go to a tie store, your eyes will be full of a variety of shapes, colors, styles. Therefore, buying a tie can be a real challenge for you. To prevent this from happening, check out my tips.

If you want to choose a quality tie that will look expensive at the same time, then look to Italy was listed as the country of origin. The most prestigious ties are sewn there. There are decent options among the Chinese, but they are always copied from Italian, so they should be preferred only if you want to save money.

Next, we look at the material from which the product is sewn. Better if it will be natural fabric. Silk, wool, satin, cashmere will look advantageous. Mixed fabrics are often used, for example, wool-linen, silk-wool, cashmere-wool. Also of great importance is what the lining is made of. Ideally, if it is 100% wool. Cheaper ties are made from polyester. I do not recommend this option, because with the help of a cheap accessory you will never create a great, stylish look. For a classic men's suit, a silk tie is most suitable. Pay attention to the quality of the material - it should be perfectly even, without protruding villi, small threads, etc.

Study the label. It should be written - "completed by hand" or "handmade". This indicates the high quality of the product. Another hint is to look at how many parts the tie is made of. Ideally, there should be three. The fabric should be sewn diagonally and the seams should be smooth and even. The seams connecting the three parts are made on a typewriter, but all other parts are done by hand. Two-piece ties are less comfortable and less likely to conform to the shape of the neck. And these ties are most likely not handmade. One more nuance. Do not confuse hand made and handmade products. If you see “hand made” on the label, this is a handicraft work made in some Asian country. You will immediately distinguish it by uneven seams. In handmade, almost the entire product is sewn on a typewriter, and only a few stitches are made by hand.

Inspect the back side at the widest part of the tie - as a rule, it is not sewn a little, but is only fastened with large stitches (as in the photo). There should also be a loop that serves to pass the narrow end of the tie through it.

Sometimes poor quality ties can curl. This is easy to check - just take the narrower end of the tie and hang it upright. If it hangs straight, then everything is in order. And try stretching the tie a little. If it stretches, it is made of poor quality material and will quickly lose its shape. Look for another option.

Size and texture

Ties can be narrow and wide, short and long.

The width of the tie depends on the width of the lapels of the jacket.(the wider they are, the wider the tie should be). In addition, consider the height of your collar, because the tie that you tie around your neck should not peek out from under it. The optimal width of the tie is 9-11 cm.

Choose skinny ties for broad-shouldered jackets.. But this principle does not work with the type of figure. Here, just the opposite is true - slender guys with a thin physique should choose a narrow option, and men "in the body" - a wider one. For you, the most acceptable option would be 12-13 cm.

As for the length, it also varies. On average, its parameters range from 140 to 160 cm. When choosing, you must take into account your height and type of knot. For tall guys or wide complex knots, you should choose longer ties. The “correct” length is to the waist of the trousers.

The texture of the tie should be combined with the texture of the jacket. For example, for a light summer suit, choose a tie with the same light weave. And for winter models, which are made of dense materials, the tie, respectively, should be made of dense silk or woolen fabrics.

What should be the color?

The most difficult thing is to figure out the color and pattern of the tie. The basic rule here is this - the tie should be a tone darker than the shirt. But here there are a lot of nuances that also need to be taken into account. Basic combinations are shown in the photo. Everything else I will try to briefly describe below.

Do not forget that the shirt must be matched to the suit. I wrote about how to choose and how to choose in past articles. Be sure to check them out, you will learn how to properly combine a shirt and a jacket. Accordingly, it will be easier to pick up a tie.

Also, the color of the tie can be selected by contrast. For example, a white tie is suitable for a black shirt. A yellow tie will harmoniously look with a purple, blue or lilac shirt. There are a number of traditional combinations:

- a red tie and shirt in white, blue, light blue or gray;

- a pink tie and a white or light blue shirt;

- Green tie and white shirt.

In addition, there are universal colors. For example, a white tie is suitable for any dark-colored shirt. A dark blue tie is combined with cherry, burgundy, blue, gray shirts. This is the standard option for business meetings and special occasions. A burgundy tie is a business classic. It always looks stylish, expensive and spectacular. At the same time, it does not catch the eye and does not distract attention. You can also wear this tie to special occasions. It is ideal for a black, blue, brown or beige shirt. And, of course, the classic black tie. Solemn events, meetings in a formal setting that obliges you to look strictly - for all this you must have a black tie. A white shirt, black suit and black tie is a classic of the genre that will always be appropriate and in demand.

General rules to consider when choosing a tie:

- if your shirt or shirt is striped or plaid, it is better to wear a plain tie under them, which will match the stripes in color;

- if you have a light tie, then match it to the suit a tone darker, that is, it is better if it is a dark suit and a dark shirt;

- also a light tie will go well with a light suit (the same color as the tie) and a dark shirt;

- A dark tie goes well with a dark suit and a light shirt.

So, these are general tips that will allow you to create strict classic combinations. Let me remind you, now we were talking about plain ties. Next, we will talk about what patterns can be on a tie and what is best to combine them with.

How to choose a drawing?

Ties with a pattern for a classic suit are worn as often as plain ones. Such options allow you to make the image brighter and more attractive, while remaining within the framework of business etiquette.

The first simple rule is a tie with a pattern is best worn under a plain shirt. And then a few basic rules that you should know when choosing a tie with a pattern for a business suit:

- A tie with small peas or a small cage looks modest and tasteful. In principle, small peas or a cage do not affect the selection rules, they remain the same as in the case of plain ones.

- Similarly, it is worth doing with ties, on which there is a slight repeating pattern.

- Rep lines (classic oblique stripes on a tie) are the most common option for business meetings. These ties are suitable for a suit of any color and shirts that are not bright, muted tones. Again, look at the color that dominates the tie. It should be combined with a shirt and a suit.

- Always stylish, while within the framework of business etiquette, the paisley pattern looks (it has a shape similar to an elongated pearl). This option is suitable for any suits, the main thing is to comply with the conditions for selecting colors. The paisley pattern is shown in the photo.

- Ties with more complex patterns, for example, a large cage, an oblique cage, are not suitable for classic men's suits. They are best worn with cardigans, jackets in casual style or with sports options.

- For a classic men's suit, strict geometric shapes are suitable. For example, rhombuses, triangles, circles, rectangles. The main thing here is that they be clear, discreet, small. The color scheme is selected according to the same rules as with monochromatic.

- For special occasions, you can wear ties with floral patterns, geometric patterns, playful options (for example, abstract patterns). It is better that the suit and shirt in this case be plain.

The main thing is that the tie does not look tasteless. Everything should be in moderation. For a classic costume, you should not choose bright flashy tones and funny drawings (cartoon characters, animals, musical instruments, etc.). You understand that this would be inappropriate.

Choose a tie pattern for the type of figure

In order not to look tasteless, it is quite important to know which patterns on a tie will suit your body type.

- For slender and tall men, it is better to choose with horizontal stripes or any other repeating pattern, the figures of which are located horizontally. However, it is better for slender and thin people to choose large patterns (for example, large horizontal stripes). Avoid vertical stripes, they will visually make you even taller.

- Full tall men should be preferred with geometric shapes.

- For slender men of short stature, ties with small geometric shapes or vertical stripes are perfect. In general, a solid color tie is a great option for you. Large drawings should be avoided.

- Full men of short stature are better off choosing a small pattern and vertical stripes.

- For men of average height of normal build, different options are suitable. But in any case, it is better to find your type and choose a few combinations that you yourself would like.

Remember that all these are general recommendations that do not take into account many nuances, for example, your color type. Therefore, when creating an image, it is better to be guided by your personal feelings and trust your taste. But if you do not trust yourself, contact a professional stylist who will select a few successful looks and give practical recommendations on choosing clothes.

Finally, we come to the most important, final stage. There are several ways to tie a tie. Some people like to make curly knots. But since we are talking about the classics, then everything should be conservative here - a simple classic knot. It takes a long time to describe how to do it. It is much easier to look at the figure below. It shows schematically how to tie a tie. Those who do not know how to do this will master this simple scheme in a matter of minutes. A little practice - and there will be a complete order! I'll just give you a few more practical tips.

The node must be matched to the type of figure. On overweight men, wide knots will look good, on thin guys, narrow knots. Be sure to knit the knot on the shirt collar, you should not do it in your hands, and then put it on over your head. You need to tighten the tie carefully, otherwise, if you overtighten the tie, it will look ugly.

Perhaps this is all you need to know about the tie that you will wear under a classic suit. I hope my advice will help you make the right choice and look spectacular, stylish, but at the same time strict and elegant.

Not everyone knows how to choose a tie and this is quite normal. Many people do not update their accessories because they do not understand how to combine them with clothes.

Today we will look at the history of this jewelry, with what clothes it should be worn. We will see tips from stylists who will tell you what to look for when buying such a thing.

Ties originate from ancient Egypt. At that time, a piece of cloth was thrown over the shoulders. This element of clothing served as a symbol of social status. Later, this decoration was noticed on the soldiers and nobles of the Emperor of China. However, it is believed that ties were invented by Roman legionnaires.

In the 16th century, men adorned themselves with stiff collars. Already in the 17th century, when the stronger sex wore a vest, they wore a long scarf around their neck, which was tied with different knots. Only in the 18th century, this scarf began to be called a tie, it acquired a modern look.

Choosing a tie, what you need to know?

Many do not know how to choose a tie, so they need to remember these rules:

  1. When buying, place the tie in the palm of your hand. The hanging part should not twist.
  2. It is better to buy an accessory made of silk.
  3. The fabric of the decoration must match the fabric of the costume.
