Many modern women in Ukraine have recently paid attention to cosmetics from domestic manufacturers. Indeed, in many cases it is not at all inferior in quality to foreign means. And the undoubted advantage is that Ukrainian cosmetics have an affordable price. About 20 enterprises are involved in this area, and this is significantly more than it was before 1991.
Production Features
Ukrainian-made cosmetics have several characteristic features. First of all, almost all companies target a buyer with an average income, so the products have a fairly low price. Among the entire range, the most widely available are products that allow you to care for your face, body, and hair. But there are few factories that produced decorative lines. Ukrainian cosmetics manufacturers use in their production components imported from countries such as France, Great Britain, Germany, and Austria. Oils and plant extracts are domestic. However, scientists are developing their own recipes and unique compositions. Often foreign cosmetologists borrow them in the production of their own products.
Biocon company
This brand began its activities as a medical center, which was founded in 1991. The company's employees were researching medicinal leeches and their effects on the human body. A special component was identified that had a beneficial effect on the skin, making it elastic and healthy. This fact became an incentive to launch the production of a series of cosmetics. A factory was opened at the center that was engaged in growing leeches in artificial conditions (the technology was developed and patented by laboratory staff). Since 1995, mass production of creams and other facial skin products began. Ukrainian cosmetics from this manufacturer contain many natural ingredients, including leech extract. It should also be noted that there are products designed to protect the skin from ultraviolet rays. Creams from this line have become sales leaders in Ukraine, because they use a special protective complex, which is designed taking into account the characteristics of the epidermis and contains up to 5 different filters. Irene Bucur and her products
Ukrainian organic cosmetics are provided by the Iren Bukur brand. The main feature of this manufacturer is the use of natural ingredients. That is why the products have a rather short shelf life. This cosmetics is the result of collaboration between two women - Irina Bucur (president of the company) and Lydia Moskalenko (candidate and associate professor of pharmacological sciences). All products belong to the premium class, and accordingly, the price is quite high. At the moment, about 40 types of products are produced. It is characteristic that all products are hypoallergenic, so they are suitable for every woman. Another important point is that some products use aquaporin technology, which was first used by the Dior brand. Salon is a brand that specializes in hair and nail products. Professional Ukrainian cosmetics of this brand are used both in salons and at home. Special medicinal varnishes have been developed, the action of which is aimed at the existing problem (fragility, lamination, uneven surface of the nail plate). The products of the Green Pharmacy brand amaze with their diversity. Several Ukrainian enterprises are engaged in the production of decorative cosmetics. One of them is LORINA cosmetics. The company has several product lines: care for problematic and mature skin, a basic complex for facial care, products for strengthening eyelashes and hair. The range is also represented by special body sprays, among which anti-cellulite deserves special attention. Men were not left out either - this Ukrainian cosmetics is suitable for their skin, and the company also produces aftershave gel. But the prices for Piel Cosmetics products are quite high, so not everyone can afford them. However, the manufacturer guarantees that when used at home, the consumption will be small, and the products will take care of the owner’s skin for a long time.

A special feature of this enterprise is that the products are manufactured in Ukraine, and the recipe is developed by English specialists. In addition, they have a pronounced antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect. It is characteristic that this component has no odor. The range is represented by hair products that contain onion-garlic components. In addition, the pricing policy is democratic, the product is affordable.
We are convinced every day that those who want to do find means and ways. There are many examples that can be given in any industry. Perfumery and cosmetics are no exception. After the limitless dominance of chemistry, people are returning to natural oils, creams, detergents, etc. And it is so pleasant to note that private enterprises of different formats are emerging, which create new compositions that fully meet the requirements of the time - safe, made from natural ingredients and unusually fragrant.
Repetitions of recipes are excluded
Natural products are a direction that we decided to develop and become popularizers of natural cosmetics that are safe for health. I would like to immediately note that Ukrainian-made cosmetics are of very high quality, have excellent consumer properties - they fit perfectly on the skin, are absorbed well, and do not leave any traces of oily shine on the face and body. Manufacturers have learned to preserve all the beneficial properties of plants without using synthetic additives and preservatives. And it's not that simple. You will not find in the compositions of domestic natural products:
- heavy metals, dioxins, hydrocarbons, nitrates,
- petrochemical products and parabens,
- silicones, artificial fragrances and dyes,
- sodium lauryl and lauryl sulfates.
All raw materials are provided by nature itself. It is based on herbs, vegetable oils and infusions. Very interesting and accessible combinations today are obtained by using components that are completely different in nature and origin. Natural cosmetics have at their disposal:

- vegetable oils and extracts,
- nuts from all over the world and oils from them,

We can say with confidence that even if ancient recipes are taken as a basis, then, of course, no one follows them completely from A to Z. Why? The temptation is too great to resist adding something of your own. And it’s unlikely that the ancient herbalists had the same components that today’s miracle workers have.
Therefore, you will not find natural cosmetic brands with the same composition from different manufacturers. Each recipe is special, as is the company. And it’s great that there is so much to choose from.
During the period of market formation, everyone does everything. As world practice shows, over time, the strengths and weaknesses of a product will be determined. Some things will be in greater demand, some less, the production of some goods will cease, while others, on the contrary, will become bestsellers. This is normal practice in finding your niche.

“Avicenna” is the first product without SLS
The beneficial properties of plants are used by the Avicenna Scientific and Medical Phytocenter. It was here that the first shampoos without SLS appeared - sodium lauryl sulfate (surfactant, synthesized from petroleum products, a strong strong allergen, can cause skin irritation, weakens and dries out hair). Several years ago, the country was swept by a real boom in soap production. I haven’t tried to make my own foam masterpiece, I’m just lazy, but not everyone succeeded in even one piece. Others, after much testing, came out with excellent products that quickly captivated consumers with their thick, juicy aroma and mild effect - like the series of handmade solid soaps from the private enterprise “Ambra”.
Of course, much of the success was due to the fact that this family business had its own certified pharmacist at the head. This is felt both in the selection of components and in the presentation of products. Everything is checked down to the gram with professional apothecary precision.

Note! You can find the “Certified Organic Ingredients” logo on cosmetic packaging. It can be misleading to our inexperienced buyers, as some sellers deliberately present it as an eco-certification mark. In fact, it says that the composition contains some organic components, but the product itself is not so.
A few words about organic cosmetics
At the moment, all brands of organic natural cosmetics are imported. These products undergo international certification and are decorated with a special logo of the certification body. In Ukraine, the most common signs are Ecocert, BDIH, Natrue, BIO EcoCert, ICEA (AIAB), and more recently COSMOS (a jointly agreed standard with BIDH, COSMEBIO/ECOCERT, SOIL Association, ECOGARANTIE and ICEA/AIAB).
The most famous certification organization in the world is Ecocert. Its representative offices are open in 80 countries. In order for its logo to decorate product packaging, it is necessary to go through a number of complex and expensive independent testing procedures. Moreover, not only raw materials are certified, but also every stage of production. Only then is the right to use the Ecocert logo for the product itself granted.
So far, Ukrainian cosmetics manufacturers cannot afford certification. Not because Ukrainian products are inferior in quality to European ones. No, it meets all the parameters required for natural cosmetics and has excellent reviews. But in the current economic realities, certification can significantly affect the cost of the final product. After all, it is not just expensive, but very expensive. Testing at Ecocert will cost about 5 thousand euros per SKU (stock keeping unit). So, let’s put the logos aside until better times and will be happy and, rest assured, with health benefits, to buy “our own – Ukrainian, because it’s worth it.”
PS. It is very difficult for beginning manufacturers to build a business. They are entering into fierce competition both in the domestic market and outside of Ukraine. And producers of organic products have been waiting for many years for the law “On Organic Production” to be signed, although the Verkhovna Rada adopted it on April 21, 2011. We have quite a few of them, although they all deal mainly with food products. The law is needed not only by companies, but also by consumers - to protect against the purchase of counterfeits. It clearly states what the concept of organic products includes, what and how they should be made. Thanks to the law, a conscientious manufacturer would receive new opportunities, and most importantly, would be protected from counterfeiters and their pseudo-organics. It is unlikely that greenwashing would flourish so wildly in the cosmetics environment. If you had to answer to the competent regulatory authorities for incomplete or outright false information - in accordance with the requirements of the law.
Made in Ukraine is a trend that is gaining momentum, but for some reason everyone associates it with the clothes of Ukrainian designers. In our country they make not only high-quality clothes, but also cosmetics. Today we are talking about the best Ukrainian beauty brands.
We are used to buying cosmetics from world famous brands. When it comes to skincare products, everyone knows that you can’t find better Japanese and Korean cosmetics. If we talk about makeup products, then France and the USA are considered to be the leaders in this area. But did you know that in Ukraine they make high-quality cosmetics no worse than in these countries? Moreover, many domestic manufacturers rely on natural ingredients that can be used even by people with severe allergies to chemical components.
In addition, many believe that the more expensive the product, the more effective it is. It is not always so.
